About the Service
Check Your Terms helps you quickly and easily discover whether your contract contains risks or does not comply with the law. You upload your contract and our technology, developed in collaboration with lawyers, immediately provides insight into important provisions and risks.
Currently, you can have us check residential rental contracts and purchase contracts. We are working hard on developing checks for other purposes.
We start the analysis immediately after upload. Usually you have results within a few minutes. If you also choose for an extra check by one of our experts, you'll get a response within 48 hours.
The initial check is done automatically through our technology. If you want a double check by a lawyer afterwards, our experts will manually review it within 48 hours.
No, the analysis is created and prepared by experienced lawyers. We only use AI to extract certain information from your contract on which we base our advice.
Privacy and Data Handling
Your contract is immediately analyzed and then automatically deleted, unless you have indicated that you want a team review. You always have the option to manually delete your contract through your account settings.
The data you provide when using the service (such as your name and email address) is stored as long as your account is active. If you don't use your account for a year, you'll get a notification. If you don't respond to that, we'll delete your data the following week.
Yes, the service uses multiple security measures:
- Encryption of internet traffic via SSL/https
- Authentication via the OAuth2 protocol
- Role-based access control for sensitive data
Yes. The processing of personal data is based on legal grounds from the GDPR, such as performance of a contract, legal obligations, or legitimate interest. The service complies with GDPR requirements, including retention periods, security, data subject rights, and no data transfer outside the EEA.
No one can view your complete contract. Only specific parts needed for the analysis are temporarily processed and are limited accessible to authorized employees.
Your entire contract is immediately deleted, unless you have indicated that you want to enable the team review, so our experts can review it. If you still want to have your document deleted, send us an email.
Yes. You have the right to access, correction, deletion, data portability, and withdrawal of consent. Requests can be directed to info@checkyourterms.com. We respond within four weeks.
Usage of the Website
You choose the type of contract you want to have checked, log in, enter your details and upload the document. Then we'll get to work for you immediately.
Check Your Terms currently accepts PDF (.pdf) and Word (.docx) files.

Yes, you can use Check Your Terms on your laptop, tablet or mobile device.
Legal Context
Check Your Terms bases the analyses and information on the most current applicable Dutch legislation. As soon as legal changes are implemented, we process these changes in our technology. If our technology has not yet been fully adapted to the most recent Dutch legislation, we will make this known before you perform a contract check.
We don't provide legal advice for the courtroom, but we do tell you what your options are, which steps you can consider, and which agencies can possibly help you.
